THE COMPANY This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Australia's most respected premium beef processors in a pivotal Livestock Buyer role. Working remotely and supported by an experienced livestock team, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring quality cattle, building strong producer networks and helping ensure a consistent supply of livestock to processing operations. THE ROLE Reporting to the Group Livestock Manager, you will play a key role in livestock procurement across the Western VIC region. This is a relationship-driven position that combines livestock assessment, market intelligence, producer engagement and supply chain coordination. The role is home-office based with regular travel throughout livestock-producing regions, processing facilities and supplier operations. Key Responsibilities Source and purchase cattle that meet processing specifications and program requirements. Build and maintain strong relationships with producers, agents and industry stakeholders. Assess livestock quality, condition and suitability for processing programs. Monitor livestock markets, pricing trends and supply conditions. Coordinate livestock transport and delivery schedules. Promote livestock programs and ensure compliance with program requirements. Conduct livestock audits and on-farm assessments. Maintain accurate livestock purchasing records using Salesforce. Work closely with livestock, processing and administration teams to achieve procurement targets. THE REQUIREMENTS Previous experience within the livestock, beef, cattle, rural services or agricultural sectors. Strong knowledge of cattle production systems and livestock management. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Commercial awareness and an understanding of livestock markets. Strong organisational and time management abilities. A genuine passion for animal welfare and livestock production. The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
